NFC Chip Guide

🐾 Simple guide to NFC chips

Don't take a picture of the tag. Just tap your phone.

The NFC chip inside the Zampettiamo tag works like a contactless payment: you tap your phone, a notification appears, and your dog's digital ID card opens. No app needed.

Watch the video: just tap your phone to the tag.

First important thing: it's not a QR code.

The NFC chip is hidden inside the tag. You don't need to photograph it, open your camera, or look for a code to scan.

You simply unlock your phone and place or tap the tag to the NFC area of your phone.

How it works in 4 steps

Unlock your phone

The screen must be on. If the phone is completely locked, it may not read the chip.

Tap the tag

Bring the back of your phone near the NFC inscription on the tag. Move it slowly, without shaking.

Wait for the notification

When the phone reads the chip, a notification or a link to open appears.

Tap the notification

The dog's digital ID card will open with photos, phone numbers, address, and useful information.

What opens

A digital ID card for your dog

Inside the NFC chip, we register your dog's personal page. When someone finds your dog and taps their phone to the tag, they can immediately see useful information.

Photo and dog's nameTo recognize them immediately.
Phone numbersTo quickly contact the family.

Quick FAQs

Do I need to download an app?
No, no app is needed. Just tap your phone to the tag and open the notification.
Do I need to take a picture of the tag?
No. The camera is for QR codes, but this tag has an internal NFC chip. You need to tap your phone, not photograph it.
Is internet needed?
Yes. The NFC chip opens a webpage with the dog's ID card. To view it, an internet connection, Wi-Fi, or mobile data is needed.
Can the ID card be modified?
The modification is managed by Zampettiamo. If you need to update a number, address, or important information, please contact us through the support channels already present on the site.
Why doesn't the phone read immediately?
Each phone has its NFC antenna in a different spot. On iPhones, it's usually at the top; on many Androids, it's on the back, in the center, or at the top. Slowly move the tag until the notification appears.
Can the case cause problems?
Yes, especially if it's very thick, metallic, or magnetic. For a proper test, remove the case and try again.
Can the chip break during travel?
It is highly unlikely under normal conditions. Each tag is tested before shipping and carefully packaged. If it seems not to work after a day, the problem is almost always how it is being read.
Will it break if it gets wet?
The tag is designed for daily use. The NFC chip will not be damaged or break if wet; however, we recommend not repeatedly immersing it and removing the tag before bathing.
Can the person who finds the dog call me directly?
Yes. We include useful contacts on the digital ID card, so anyone who finds the dog can quickly contact you by simply clicking on the number; there's no need to copy and paste.
Does the NFC chip track the dog's location?
No. The NFC chip is not a GPS and does not track the dog. It serves to open the digital ID card when a person physically taps their phone to the tag.
To remember

The correct test is this

Phone unlocked, internet active, tag near the back of the phone, slow movement. When the notification appears, tap it.

Do not open the camera. Do not look for a QR code. Do not take photos. NFC works by close contact.

A small tap can bring them home.

The Zampettiamo NFC tag is designed to make immediate contact between whoever finds your dog and their family: no apps, no codes to copy, just a phone near the tag.
